Canberra has been very good to my family. In 1979, we arrived as Vietnamese boatpeople and were taken in by the Ainslie Church of Christ who helped us to rebuild our lives. For many years we ran a family bakery and have forged lasting friendships with people in the Capital Region through study, work, and sport.
Just as Canberra has supported my family, I am for Canberra.
I have volunteered for many community organisations and ran for the ACT Legislative Assembly in 2016. I've taught politics and philosophy to thousands of ANU students. Through my books and articles, I have given people something to think about, something to smile about, and something to believe in. And as an ABC Radio presenter, I've helped many people to tell their amazing stories, including carers, queer folk, blokes, poets, students, the disabled, migrants, and everyday members of our community.
